SRWare hat eine portable Version für USB-Sticks herausgebracht, dies erleichtert den Vorgang:
Um auf Mac OS X (intel) in den Genuß von SRWare Iron zu kommen, bietet es sich an den CrossOver Chromium von codeweavers zu benutzen.
Dazu wird zunächst CrossOver Chromium herunter geladen und installiert.
Anschließend SRWare Iron Portable downloaden und IronPortable.zip unzippen.
[Leider funktionieren die aktuellen 2.x-Versionen mit diesem Trick nicht mehr unter Mac OS X und Linux, die älteren Pakete finden sich hier:

Das entpackte Archiv (also der Ordner “IronPortable“) wird an diese Stelle kopiert:
/Applications/CrossOver\ Chromium.app/Contents/SharedSupport/cxchromium/support/chromium/drive_c/
Anschließend in der Datei
"/Applications/CrossOver\ Chromium.app/Contents/Info.plist"
die Zeile
<string>wine --wait-children --bottle default "c:/chromium/chrome.exe" --no-sandbox --in-process-plugins</string>
in
<string>wine --wait-children --bottle default "c:/IronPortable/Iron/iron.exe" --no-sandbox --in-process-plugins</string>
ändern.
SRWare Iron auf dem AppleSollte eigentlich auch mit den Linux Versionen von CrossOver Chromium funktionieren und das umständliche Handtieren mit Wine auf ein Minumum reduzieren. —> Anleitung für Linux

Copy the folder (“IronPortable“) to
/Applications/CrossOver\ Chromium.app/Contents/SharedSupport/cxchromium/support/chromium/drive_c/
Edit the file
"/Applications/CrossOver\ Chromium.app/Contents/Info.plist"
and change

to
<string>wine --wait-children --bottle default "c:/IronPortable/Iron/iron.exe" --no-sandbox --in-process-plugins</string>
SRWare Iron on AppleShould also work with the Linux versions of CrossOver Chromium but I read about problems using the unmodified Wine.

Trying to follow your instructions, but:
/Applications/CrossOver\ Chromium.app/Contents/SharedSupport/cxchromium/support/chromium/drive_c/
doesn’t exist on the Mac. Can’t copy the folder (”IronPortable“) there. There is only the application. Any tips?

Ah, yes, use the Terminal to copy it or “unfold” the app by clicking on it with pressed ctrl-Button “Show Package Contents“. Hope this helps!
